Whitesails, a superb, individually designed and spacious house is finished to a very high standard. Sitting in its own lovely panoramic site of 1 acre, it commands stunning views over the Bay of Ireland, the Hills of Hoy and Stromness as well as surrounding farmland. It is five minutes from the archaeological World Heritage Site in Stenness, 3 miles from Stromness and approx. 250 metres, with path, to the secluded shoreline.
Whitesails offers seclusion, a beautiful place to escape and stunning beauty, a perfect holiday destination. It is an ideal place to relax and a great base to explore the nearby famous archaeological sites, walk, cycle, play golf, photograph and paint or just potter in Stromness or Kirkwall.
Relax in the spacious sitting room or conservatory and watch the antics of lambs and calves, tractors busy at work, birds wheeling or seals resting on the shore. Or just follow the immense skies and decide how to spend the day. Cook local produce in the well-appointed kitchen and dining room, which offer the same stunning views, or just stroll around the house and sit in one of the patios or play a ball game on one of the lawns.

Whitesails is individually designed with attractive pine tongue and groove wood ceilings, which add warmth and individuality. The quality furnishings in this accommodation are complimented by paintings by Gordon Mitchell, Lesley Francis and quality prints. The house is fully carpeted throughout, with vinyl floor covering in the kitchen and utility room.
The attractive and spacious sitting room, with large picture window, has comfortable sofas, electric focal point fire, occasional tables, a Sky freesat TV/DVD and doors to the hall and conservatory…which has fabulous views and leads to the garden patios. The sitting room also opens to the attractive dining room, with dining table and chairs, which opens to the… kitchen, housing a quality range of wall and base units and amenities which contain everything you need for a great self-catering holiday. There is a radio/CD player and point for a TV. Off the kitchen is the… utility room with a range of wall units, sink, drainer, washing machine, condenser tumble dryer, and fridge/freezer.
There are three double bedrooms off the hall: two with double beds and one with twin beds. All have fitted mirrored wardrobes. The master has a spacious en-suite with large shower, WC/wash basin and a 1400 mm bath. There is also a small single bedroom at the end of the hall. Off the hall is a bathroom with large shower, WC/wash basin.
Halls: Outer hall with hanging pegs, meter cupboard, with doors to outside, garage, small room and inner hall, which has a large cloaks cupboard and doors leading off all main rooms.
Large single integral garage: ideal for storing bikes, fishing gear, canoes, wetsuits, surfboards, etc. It contains a drying pulley, play equipment and bins. Doors to the hall and back garden…
Garden: There is a large garden surrounding the property, with two patios and outside seating/table, lawns, flowerbed, shrubbery and vegetable garden. There is a large drying green. The field to the front belongs to Whitesails and in springtime, has two or three sheep in with their lambs.

are electric. The heaters and the double-glazing create a warm, cosy atmosphere.

are inclusive of all electricity, bedding and linen.

There is ample space for parking several cars.

Our policy on pets, smoking and the environment
Well-behaved dogs are accepted by prior arrangement. No more than 2 dogs. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times when in the grounds of Whitesails and all dog ‘poo’ must be picked up.

Whitesails is totally non-smoking.
- As much as possible, we try to use environmentally friendly cleaning products and to recycle bottles, newspapers and plastics.

Arrival and Departure
We ask our guests to depart by 10a.m.at the latest and arrive after 2p.m. This gives us time to prepare for our next guests.
