Raingoose is a beautifully designed house with traditional Orkney stone frontage and Welsh slate roof. It commands stunning, uninterrupted views over the Bay of Ireland to the Hoy Hills, arguably one of the best vistas in Orkney. Set in its own large garden, 200 metres from the Bay of Ireland, with excellent secluded shoreline, Raingoose has access to our adjacent fields and the shore.
Sleeping up to six people, it offers modern amenities in excellent accommodation. Luxuriate in the sitting room, view the incredible skies and beautiful scenery through the picture window or watch the seals resting on the shore and birds wheeling. Be snug with its multi-fuel stove and central heating. Relax in the well-appointed kitchen and dining area, which offer the same stunning views. It is an ideal place to relax and a great base to explore the nearby famous archaeological sites, walk, cycle, play golf, photograph and paint or just potter in Stromness or Kirkwall.

Raingoose is an individually designed and delightful house and the distinctive hall opens out to all rooms. The furniture and bedding is of a high standard. On the walls are original paintings by Gordon Mitchell and Lesley Francis and quality prints.
Every ceiling is attractive pine tongue and groove wood, which add warmth and individuality. A focal point multi-fuel stove in the Sitting Room adds to the ambience and comfort, as does the quality Italian leather suite and traditional Orkney stool and artefacts. There is a TV with Sky ‘Freesat’ digital and VCR/DVD.

Garden, which is a large area of lawn bordered by shrubs and leads to our adjacent meadow of over three acres, ideal for a short dog walk. There is also an outside shed with wooden picnic table, chairs, barbecue, play equipment, coal and bins and is ideal for storing bikes.

is electric, apart from the multi-fuel fire. The heaters and the K glass double-glazing create a warm, cosy atmosphere.

Well-behaved dogs are accepted.
Raingoose is totally non-smoking.
As much as possible, we try to use environmentally friendly cleaning products and to recycle bottles, newspapers and plastics.

Arrival and Departure
We ask our guests to depart by 10a.m.at the latest and arrive after 4p.m. This gives us time to prepare for our next guests.
